The Love of Siam

This movie is about families and teenage sexuality. It was very controversial in Thailand movie industry because there is a "gay" part in it.

The story tells of two childhood friends Mew and Tong who were separated when Tong's sister has gone missing after her travel into the Mountain. Tong and Mew met again when they were studying at different Senior High Schools. Tong has dated a girl, Donut while Ying has a crush on Mew.

Mew has a very strong feeling on Tong. Mew is a singer in a band and he draws so much inspiration from Tong to write his songs. This has touched Tong. The most intense moment was when Tong has a prolonged kiss with Mew at his backyard. His mother saw it and was very worried. But after that Tong was very confused at his sexuality.

Meanwhile, his mother has to juggle with his husband's alcoholic problem after Tong's sister disappearance and Tong's possible homosexuality.

There's a very touching scene when Tong helps his mother to decorate the Christmas tree and ask his mother to let him make his own choices. Her mother consented.

There wasn't a clear indication that Tong is gay. He was just confused with his feeling for Mew. He finally broke up with Donut but did not end up being together with Mew. He told Mew that he could not be his boyfriend but that doesn't mean that he doesn't love him.

At the end, Tong finally gave Mew the final piece of the wooden statue which was from a treasure hunt game they played during their childhood. This "completes" the missing piece... in Mew's heart.
