Self Evaluation

  1. Self evaluation is very important these days.
  2. You can never rely 100% on feedback.
  3. Example, on one job assignment, you weren't selected for it. If you are open minded enough, you would seek feedback from your boss why you weren't selected. Your boss didn't like you very much because he just doesn't like the way you are and it has nothing to do with your ability to perform your job. Your boss doesn't want to make him/herself look bad, of course he will find one of your job-related weakness and just simply feedback you.
  4. In this case, you should not take in all of his/her word. We must do self-evaluation in this case.
  5. Have a person that you know who perform very well in this area. Then compare yours with his. Let's say your boss says you email comm. skill is very bad. Then compare your previous email writing with the good ones.
  6. If you can't find much difference from comparison. The person who give you feedback probably is prejudiced towards you.
  7. Same goes to your colleague. Conflict of interest may make them to provide false feedback, consciously or not, so that they can achieve their goal.

Maybe that's just my office culture. But I just don't buy into Pretend-To-Be-Nice shit.
